Common faults
Most of the receivers we see are the Bell 9242 HD PVR. Customers describe:
- A receiver that "suddenly stopped working", where unplugging it helps but "the reboot took forever"
- A hard drive failure that turns a dual PVR into a plain receiver with no recordings
- Power supply faults and worn capacitors on the main board
Replacement hard drives for these receivers are hard to find because the receiver only accepts specific drives. One customer's 9242 went home with a 1 TB drive, three times the original. The board work is the same circuit board repair we do on everything else.
How it works
Call first so we can check we have the part. Bring the receiver in and most repairs are done while you wait: customers report 30 minutes, 75 minutes, "within an hour".
After some repairs, Bell has to reactivate the smart card. That's a phone call to Bell, and we can stay on the line and tell them what's needed.
Price and warranty
Our hourly repair rate is $80. Call with the model and we'll give you the price before any repair. Warranties are available on select repairs: one customer's 9242 came with a one-year warranty.
